Ma Maison Review

Heyy guys it’s Ice here! Today, I’m here to give you a review of my favouriteeeee tonkatsu restaurant. It is none other than Tonkatsu by Ma Maison!

Food

Negi Miso Rosu Katsu Set

Kayden had this set, which is deep-fried pork loin, which comes with the special Negi Miso sauce and spring onion. The sauce is a good combination of savoury and sweet, which is a good match with the crispy and thick katsu.

Cheese Mille-feuille Katsu Set ($24.80)

I ordered this, which is essentially deep-fried multi-layered sliced pork with sandwiched cheese that strings when you pull them apart. Super yummy. The crust was crispy and thin, not oily at all. The multi-layered sliced pork had a really nice texture and bite to it. I highly recommend this if you love cheese with katsu?

On a side note, there are free flow sauces for you to go with your katsu – 1 spicy and 1 sweet sauce. However, both of them… Sucks… It’s really quite terrible in our opinion haha so skip them~

There is also sesame salad dressing that is really nice to go with the cabbage!

Service

I just want to shout out to their really awesome service.

Ma Maison offers you hot/cold tea once you sit down (tbh we were shocked cause we didn’t order it yet? So we were confused as to whether are we supposed to pay for it or not haha). But we just drank it in the end?

The cabbage, drinks, miso soup and rice are completely free flow! So you can definitely eat to your heart’s content!

At the end of the meal, they even give you a dessert as well! It’s nothing much, just a jelly, but it shows how much thought they put into making sure their diners have a complete and fulfilling meal *claps*

Conclusion

This is the best place for Tonkatsu period. After trying so many different places, nothing can beat this, especially the CHIJMES outlet! We have also tried the signature Kurobuta in one of our later visits which we felt did not feel worthy of the higher price point!
