Hey guys! Kayden here back with another review. Today, I will be reviewing D’hotel, a 3-star hotel here in Singapore. It has been a long long time since I stayed in a 3-star hotel due to several bad experiences with them.
However, since YSK is venturing into staycations, I decided to take a step out and booked the deluxe room at D’hotel!
Location
D’hotel is located right beside a busy road, around 10 minutes walk away from Outram Park MRT. In its vicinity, there is a lack of entertainment options and supermarkets to buy your staycation necessities such as food and drinks.
However, there are a few Chinese seafood restaurants located nearby, along with the famous “Tiong Bahru Pau & Snack” which sells traditional dim sum and pau.
Room
The room itself is very spacious, comparable with most 4 star hotels that I have been to. The interior looks very simple and perhaps too simple that it did not manage to leave a deep impression.
The view outside is quite disappointing. Basically, what you can see are the backyards of the shophouses nearby and the busy main road.
As expected, the toilet does not come with a bathtub but it does offer ample space for bathing. However, I faced a problem where the showerhead’s position is pointing away from me when mounted. Hence, I needed to manually hold the showerhead while bathing.
The soundproofing of the room is pretty bad and I could constantly hear people’s chatter outside. (My room is located pretty close to the lift.)
Pool
D’hotel does not have a swimming pool nor a gym. However, D’hotel has a rooftop bar for you to have a few drinks with your family & friends.
Conclusion
An acceptable hotel at the given price point (<100), especially if you are just looking for a place to gather with friends. I think it is okay not having a pool but the lack of supermarkets nearby is quite a bummer. The weak soundproofing is definitely something to be aware of as this seems to coincide with quite a few reviews online.
