Bvlgari Aqva Amara

Hey guys! It’s Kayden here back with another review! Today, I’ll be reviewing one of my favourite designer fragrances, Bvlgari Aqva Amara.

Out of all the Bvlgari Aqva lineup, I think that Amara is the most unique offering. Granted, Amara is not a crowd-pleaser, but it does have its cult followers and its performance is no slouch either!

Top notes: Sicilian Mandarin

Middle notes: Watery Notes, Neroli

Base notes: Olibanum, Indonesian Patchouli Leaf

Scent

On the first sniff, you are definitely going to get hit by this bitter orange note, which forms the backbone of this fragrance. Some swear by this bitter orange note while others absolutely hate it, and I belong to the former (:

In less than 10 minutes, the aquatic notes from the middle notes come out to play, blending beautifully with the bitter orange note to give a very masculine, oceanic vibe. If I can use a scene to describe this scent, it would be watching the sunset by the beach, watching the waves crash against the shore.

As the fragrance dries down, the olibanum and patchouli leaf blend in seamlessly with the scent. While the overall scent remains unchanged, the 2 new added notes give this fragrance a darker and woody feel.

Longevity & Projection

Bvlgari Aqva Amara has superb longevity, easily lasting 8-9 hours on my skin. For a summer fragrance, anything more than 8 hours is really good! However, the projection is pretty average. For the first 2 hours, the projection is slightly more than an arm’s length but afterwards, it forms a small scent bubble around me.

Seasons & Occasions

Seasons wise, Bvlgari Aqva Amara is not very versatile. The projection does not allow it to be worn during the winter. The oceanic vibe Amara gives is not really suited for the spring as well. Hence, I would say Amara is more suited for the summer and perhaps early fall.

However, I can see this fragrance being worn on multiple occasions. The oceanic profile really suits casual wear, from going to the gym to wearing it to work, this fragrance does it all. On the other hand, the alpha and masculine vibe of this fragrance allows it to be easily worn to formal occasions like a wedding dinner or business meetings with clients. However, I think Amara might not be the best fragrance for date nights as it lacks that sweet or sexy aspect.

Conclusion

Bvlgari Aqva Amara is a fragrance that I really love but sadly, it got discontinued. However, it can still be easily found in the market today. Hence, I would highly highly recommend everyone to pick up a bottle and try it. Even if you end up not liking it, you should be able to flip it easily in the near future due to its exclusivity.
