What’s going on guys! It’s Kayden, back with another food review~ Today, I’ll be reviewing the ever-popular Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee @ Old Airport Road Food Centre.
If you have been following my blog long enough, you would know I gave up queuing the previous time I went there. The queue is always so long and moves super slowly because everyone was buying multiple packets.
So this time, I decided to wake up at 7.30 am just to eat this! Guess what? The queue was almost the same as the previous time. After 50mins of queuing, it was finally my turn, so I ordered the $5 option instead of $4 (minimum order) to make my waiting time worth it!
Food
Simply delicious!! It is really good, one of the best Lor Mee I have ever eaten in my life.
The soup is thick and gooey, just like how a good bowl of Lor Mee should be. The amount of ingredients given is very generous as well, especially the fish. However, I felt that the chilli was quite salty and when added to the noodles, made it a little much for my liking.
Is Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee worth the 50 min queue?
Nope. Definitely not.
Conclusion
So how? You want to have a good bowl of Lor Mee but Kayden tells you that it is not worth the queue>.< I would highly recommend another Lor Mee that is equally as good with a maximum 30 mins waiting time that is located in Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre.
Mei Xiang Lor Mee, Prawn Noodle
This stall sells both prawn noodles and Lor Mee, and both are equally good but I prefer the Lor Mee. The Lor Mee is slightly less thick than 新美香 and does not include egg in its ingredients. Instead, it has fish cake slices, and more meat is given than fish here (which I highly prefer). Moreover, the chilli used here does not taste overly salty when mixed with the soup.
