The Flame Cafe

Hey guys! Its Kayden here back with another awesome review! Just last week, I went to this halal cafe near Tai Seng MRT called the flame cafe. I was so disappointed by it that I did not even finish half on my food. Here’s why.

Ambience:

The overall decoration of the place was okay. There were these metal grid like structures that hanging on the roof. Nothing too impressive, but I could tell that some effort has been made. According to my friend, you can actually book the restaurant for wedding where they will clear away the tables to give clear out some space for the event.

Food and taste:

Terrible. I ordered the lemak ayam chilli padi pasta and it was not spicy at all as advertised. I understand that spiciness is subjective, but not even a single bit of spiciness in a chilli padi dish is too much. Next, the pasta sauce simply reminded me Thai green curry and it tasted super jelak (cloying) that I lost appetite soon after. The chicken had a weird taste to it as well which made me doubt the way they prepared it.

I did not try the steamboat buffet but according to my Muslim friend who tried the pagoda steamboat buffet, she said the meat was not very good. This actually coincides with my point on how the chicken tasted.

On a side note, I shouldn’t have expected any quality given that there was only 1 table of customers there on a Saturday lunchtime. Given how close this cafe is to the MRT, it makes no sense to me if the food is tasty.

Service

Horrible. They were obviously under understaffed even though there was only 1 other table with customers. We wanted to order but the 2 waitresses were obviously too busy with other tasks. After we ordered out food, we waited for around 30 – 40 minutes before we were served the food which was too long.

In addition, the waitress taking our orders spoke in Chinese even though we gave our orders in English (One of my friend is a Malay and she cannot understand Chinese). I felt that it was very unprofessional and rude.
