Keisuke Tonkotsu King Review

Hey guys! Kayden here back with another review! Today’s review is on Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King! The outlet of choice is the branch located just outside Paya Lebar Square.

Sounds interesting? Let’s hop into it.

Ambience of Keisuke Tonkotsu King:

A small restaurant located in Paya Lebar Square with simple wooden furniture, very typical of a ramen restaurant. The Interior is decorated with many retro Japanese posters to give off the Japanese vibes. The atmosphere can be a tad oily as it is inside a small enclosed area with all the cooking going on.

The order procedure is fairly simple: Just check the boxes on the provided paper which includes the following options:

  1. The ramen of choice
  2. Extra toppings
  3. Gyoza orders
  4. Noodles texture
  5. How oily & rich do you want the soup
  6. Drinks

Food:

Tonkotsu ramen with egg
Tonkotsu Ramen with flavoured egg $12.90

The unique point about any Keisuke ramen chain is that they all come with free-flow eggs and marinated beansprouts which is a huge huge plus especially when waiting for your ramen to arrive.

Moving on, the tonkotsu ramen with flavoured egg tasted pretty decent. It wasn’t mind-blowing which is largely expected given the price Keisuke charges. The soup can be a tad salty so do opt for the lighter taste version if you prefer your soup to be lighter.

Lastly, the green cola which costs $4 for 240ml is exceptional! It is not too fizzy and tastes predominantly like cola. However the fragrant green tea seems to blend in perfectly which gives it a nice green tea aftertaste. I do agree that it is slightly expensive but trust me, it is worth at least a try! However, do no try the sakura cola which tastes way too synthetic.

Conclusion

Tonkotsu ramen is basically the staple in every ramen restaurant here in Singapore. If you don’t wish to pay an extra premium / fly over to Japan, there isn’t any tonkotsu ramen that is going to blow your mind imo. Rather, I would suggest finding a decent one that is value for money.

Keisuke Tonkotsu King is a perfect example of that. Not only does it offer a decent bowl of tonkotsu ramen, but it also provides free flow bean sprouts & hard-boiled eggs. The green tea cola there tastes exceptional as well.
