Hey guys! It’s Kayden back with another fragrance review! Today, I’ll be reviewing a cult favourite, Mancera Cedrat Boise!
This fragrance initially gained popularity for smelling similar to Creed Aventus. However, as more and more clones of Aventus gets released, people came to realise Cedrat Boise & Aventus don’t smell that similar. Mancera Cedrat Boise then started to get accepted as a standalone fragrance that is well-loved by many, earning a stunning 4.2/5 rating on Fragrantica!
Top notes: Sicilian Lemon, Black Currant, Bergamot, Spicy Notes
Middle notes: Fruity Notes, Patchouli Leaf, Water Jasmine
Base notes: Cedar, Leather, Sandalwood, Vanilla, White Musk, Moss
Scent:
On the first sniff, you will get hit by the citrus present in the fragrance. Looking at the top notes of lemon and bergamot, you might be expecting fresh and zesty citrus but nope, it leans towards the sweeter side. It is probably due to the presence of black currant, fruity notes from the middle notes and vanilla from the base.
As the fragrance dries down, you will start picking up floral notes as well as a very prominent leather note. As I am someone very sensitive to leather perfumes, the leather note in Cedrat Boise though toned down, really stood out to me. I believe the underlying leather note is what gives Cedrat Boise its lasting power.
The scent stays pretty linear afterwards before it starts to sit really close to the skin.
Longevity & Projection:
Mancera Cedrat Boise is a fragrance that can induce olfactory fatigue, causing you to assume that the scent is already faded. Overall, Mancera Boise has a really strong lasting power, easily lasting over 8 hours. As a citrus fragrance, this is something worthy of praise.
Projection is very average, projecting slightly more than an arm’s length for the first 2 hours and forming a small scent bubble around you afterwards. For a niche citrus fragrance, I am quite disappointed with the projection. Given how bright and happy this scent is, I would want people around me to notice and enjoy the scent together.
Seasons & Occasions:
Mancera Cedrat Boise is a fairly versatile fragrance. You can wear it to school, the office or even for grocery shopping. However, I would not recommend wearing it for formal occasions as it might smell too cheerful and happy.
Seasons-wise, I would recommend this for spring, fall and maybe early summer. Cedrat Boise is quite sweet-smelling, and the presence of leather makes it unsuitable for extremely hot weather. For winter, the weak projection may prove to be insufficient.
Conclusion:
Mancera Cedrat Boise is a crowd-pleaser as seen from the high ratings it has received on Fragrantica. The price is fairly decent for a niche fragrance with strong longevity and acceptable projection. All of the points mentioned combined with its versatile nature makes Cedrat Boise a good first niche fragrance to buy.
However, please do note that Cedrat Boise does not smell the most natural. Just like other Mancera fragrances, Cedrat Boise can come across as synthetic, which is to be expected at this price point. If you enjoy sweet fruity scents, this is a must-buy!
