Hi guys! It’s ICE back again with more food reviews 🙂 sorry I have been really busy, hence the late post. This week, I’m going to talk about Idaten Udon, which is located in City Link Mall.
I loveee udon, although Kayden doesn’t. But I have been bugging him to bring me to eat here every time we walk past, and it looks really good! So we finally tried this!
We went for dinner at around 7+, and it was pretty empty.
Kinoko Pork Udon
The udon is average. The broth isn’t flavourful enough – on the bland side. Overall experience was just average, I can eat it, but I just wouldn’t order it again
Tempura
I also ordered tempura to go with it. I ordered crab stick tempura and enoki mushroom tempura.
The tempura was awful! It’s cold and hard. Not crispy nor nice. The crabstick tempura is just crabstick coated with a dry and hard batter. The enoki mushroom tempura was a huggeeeee disappointment. It was so hard and you can’t taste much of the enoki mushroom. The batter overpowered the taste of the enoki mushroom. I really didn’t know one could screw up enoki mushroom tempura, but they really did. You would expect it to be crunchy and light-weight right? It’s just hard… Don’t bother buying this.
Curry Rice
Kayden got the curry rice as he doesn’t eat udon. But this is one of the “favourites” written on the menu ah.
It’s just a plate of average curry rice. Nothing spectacular, nothing great about it. Definitely not worth the $6++.
I honestly don’t understand how Idaten Udon can get 4.1-stars review on Google reviews – either they are inconsistent in their quality, or they USED TO be good and turned bad.
Yup, overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Not for the average mains, not for the horrible tempuras.
(Psst, I got 珍煮丹 brown sugar boba milk to make myself feel better for the bad dinner afterwards)
