Hey guys, Kayden here! Today, I’ll be reviewing a Japanese restaurant named Misato!
I actually found out about this restaurant from a video by Eatbook. So, what it showed was that this is a very authentic Japanese restaurant, and the ingredients used are mostly imported from Japan. Despite this, there’s no much crowd due to its location in the basement of Centrepoint, which isn’t very popular in case you never been there >.<
This got me slightly interested, is it really that good? If it’s that good, no matter how secluded the location may be, the crowd is going to come IMO. One fine day, I decided to jio my secondary school friends to eat there for lunch!
Food
Chicken Katsu Curry Set $18.80
Meh… The rice taste very premium, that’s it. The katsu tasted very normal and, so is the curry. The high price tag for an average chicken katsu is not justified IMO. If you want to have a taste of quality Katsu Don, read our review on Ma Maison!
Matcha Zenzai Mochi $7.80
I heard good things about their desserts so decided to order one. Again, I was disappointed. The unique thing is the grilled mochi which had a very different texture. The soup? It’s just pure bitterness from the matcha.
One of my friends ordered Kuzukiri ($8.80) which is noodles shaped like thin kway teow that is basically tasteless. Upon dipping it into the sauce provided, it becomes mildly sweet. There’s nothing mind-blowing about the dipping sauce or the texture of the noodles.
Another friend of mine ordered the grilled mochi zenzai. It is similar to what I ordered but with red bean soup. He said it tasted pretty average.
Conclusion
The crowd there is quite a fair bit probably due to publicity. We waited for almost 2hrs just to get disappointed. Its only saving point was perhaps their okonomiyaki and the presentation of their food which I have to admit is very pleasing to the eyes.
If you are ordering the okonomiyaki, do remember to share it! It will be too jelak to finish it alone ~
Overall, Misato is an average Japanese restaurant with a good presentation of food. Is it worth 2 hours waiting time? Nope.
