I think everyone should be aware of Benefit brow products. Other than good brow products, their packaging is always super pretty and cool, hence making it a super good gift for your friends and family or even colleagues.
Amongst the brow products they have, Gimme Brow+ and Brow Microfilling Pen have won Allure’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Hence, I wanted to review “THE GREAT BROW BASICS” that my friends have given me for my birthday.

I think this tin box can easily be reused as a storage box to keep your eyeliners, brow products etc!
THE GREAT BROW BASICS come with 3 different brow products:
- GOOF PROOF BROW PENCIL
- PRECISELY, MY BROW PENCIL
- GIMME BROW+
I have recently realised that brows are so important, and it really completes your look. You can have full make-up on, but without brows drawn on it still looks weird and incomplete.
Hence, I like to draw on brows, even when I have very light make-up on.
As you can see here, I have light eye make-up on, but it sort of looks weird and incomplete without drawing my brows.
The make-up looks more complete and I look more energetic with the brows on, even when it’s just lightly filled in.
1. BENEFIT Precisely, My Brow Pencil
This brow pencil is designed with an ultra-fine tip.
The fine tip of the brow pencil is meant for drawing natural-looking, hair-like strokes.
The pencil is also marketed to be waterproof and budge-proof.
I use this brow pencil very often in my make-up routine, but more for framing my brow so I can fill up the brow using the goof proof brow pencil. I think this fine tip gives me more control as to how I want to draw my brows.
However, I disagree that the brow pencil is budge-proof. In fact, I like the fact that it can be easily wiped away when I make mistakes in drawing the brows. Despite that, I do agree that the brow pencil is rather long-lasting, even in Singapore where it is so hot and humid.
The colour pay-off for this brow pencil is rather strong, so I would recommend you fill in the brows softly, then build it up to the colour you prefer.
2. BENEFIT Goof Proof Brow Pencil
This brow pencil is designed with a triangle/diamond tip, which allows for easy and fast brow filling, with minimal room for failure.
This brow pencil is marketed to have a glide-on formula, that allows for easy brow filling. It is also said to be waterproof.
I must agree that this GOOF PROOF BROW PENCIL is really ‘goof proof’. I really like using this pencil for general brow filling. The triangle/diamond shape of the tip allows for quick and easy filling of the brow. Not just that, the tip of the triangle/diamond shape allows you to draw fine lines like the PRECISELY, MY BROW PENCIL. Hence, if you are just looking for 1 brow pencil, you can definitely try out this one!
Additionally, the colour pay-off is generally softer than the PRECISELY, MY BROW PENCIL, hence you don’t really have to worry about having ‘crayon shin chan eye brows’.
3. BENEFIT Gimme Brow+
Gimme Brow+ is a tinted eyebrow gel with tiny microfibers. These microfibres are marketed to be able to adhere to skin & hairs, creating a fuller-looking brow.
The small tapered brush allows for easier and mess-proof application.
This brow product is also marketed to be water-resistant and long-wearing.
To be very honest, I do not really like this product.
Firstly, I did not really observe any volumizing effect on my brows. I did wonder if that is due to the light colour choice, or because I generally have quite a bit of brow, hence the effect isn’t as obvious.
Secondly, even though the brush is small and easy to manoeuvre around the brow, I tend to accidentally use too much strength. As a result, I get a huge amount of product being applied on one area of the brow. But I guess that might also be due to the fact that I rarely use any brow gel products, hence I am not too used to it still.
Summary
Generally speaking, I think Benefit’s brow product is really easy and convenient to use. You can definitely try it out. They have 12 different colours for you to choose from, and I am sure that you will be able to pick something that fits you perfectly.
I am currently using shade 3 and shade 4 (a gift from my friend). I usually use shade 3 as I prefer lighter brows, which fits better with my general make-up look. However, shade 4 works perfectly when I am going for a more heavy make-up as well. I think this is entirely up to your preference, and you can choose whichever colour that you think suits you the most!
