Bonchon Chicken

Hello! Ice is back 🙂 Sorry for being MIA cause I was busy with lab work right after I came back from Korea Summer School. Today, I’ll be bringing you a review at my new favourite place for Korean fried chicken, Bonchon Chicken!

Food

I loveeeeeee Korean fried chicken, and I used to frequent four fingers for their fried chicken coated with the spicy sauce though I find it slightly too salty.

Kayden doesn’t really fancy Korean fried chicken, so we don’t really get to eat those during our food hunts or dates. I don’t know what happened but this time he agreed so we went in and got the fried chicken:) and of course, the spicy one.

We got the 6 pieces wings with hot spicy sauce

The chicken was REALLY GOOOOOOOD.

It was crispy on the outside and super tender and soft inside. Totally not dry at all. At first taste, the spiciness does not hit you immediately like a chilli bomb just exploded in your mouth. Instead, it’s milder, yet addictive. The kind of spiciness that envelopes your mouth comfortably, making you take 1 bite after another unconsciously.

We have visited this outlet multiple times since and 90% of the time the fried fried chicken tastes soooo good except for once when the sauce was just too spicy for us to finish>.< But hey, everyone makes mistakes sometimes right!

We also tried their seafood pancake and it is with a saddening heart that I witness how their standards for this dish got worse and worse for this dish. It used to be crispy, savoury, and comes with a delicious sauce!

But on 20/2/2021, we made another visit to Bonchon and ordered their seafood pancake again. To our horror, pancake became much smaller and the sauce got substituted with a subpar one.

Unfortunately, the seafood pancake is no longer worth it ):

Conclusion

As a Korean fast-food restaurant, their service is okay, with nothing to rant or rave about. One thing Ice and I can’t stand is the fact that they do not serve free water, despite being a Korean restaurant and their menu consisting of so many spicy items.

Moreover, their self-made drinks (mocktails) are really of questionable quality. The selection of alcohol is really limited as well.

Do we think it is still worth it in 2021?

Yes! But only for their fried chicken! Get your Korean pancakes and alcohol elsewhere.
